कैसे पहचानें ?

1. Noun किसी वस्तु, व्यक्ति, स्थान आदि का नाम होता है या जिसे हम छू सकते है देख सकते है |
2. Ending के आधार पर – यदि कोई शब्द का Ending word निम्न में से कोई हो, तो वह noun समझा जाएगा |

• Rule – 1

कुछ शब्द हमेशा Singular होते है, उन्हें Plural बनाना संभव नही है –

ex- Poetry*, Scenery*, Machinary, Stationary, Jewellery*, Sultery, Crockery, luggage*, Baggage, Knowledge, Postage, Percentage, foolish, dust, information*, furniture*, money, music, coffee, equipment*, work, fuel, cost, evidence.

Error इस प्रकार से दिया जाता है :

(a) इन सभी शब्दों को Plural बनाकर |

(b) इन सभी शब्दों के पहले a, an का प्रयोग करके |

(c) इन सभी शब्दों के बाद Plural verb का प्रयोग करके |

(d) कभी – कभी इन सभी शब्दों के पहले several का प्रयोग किया जाता है जो कि गलत है 

निश्चित noun के पहले the का प्रयोग संभव है जब यह किसी Preposition या Adj. clause के पहले आते है |

Trick –

ऐसे शब्दों पर नजर पड़ते ही आप उपरोक्त बातों पर गौर करेंगें और वाक्य के जिस भाग में नियम का उल्लंघन किया गया है, वह Part गलत माना जाएगा इन शब्दों के Plural बनाने के लिए इन शब्दों के पहले items of/articles of/kinds of/ pieces of का प्रयोग किया जाता है |

Correct – She reads Bryon’s poetry.

Incorrect- She reads Bryon’s poetries.

Correct – Advice is good.

Incorrect- Advice are good.

Correct -A piece of advice is good.

Correct -Piece of advice are good.

Incorrect- A piece of advice are good.

• Rule – 2

Adjective के पहले the का प्रयोग करने से यह Plural Noun की तरह व्यवहार करने लगता है जैसे – Poor – गरीब , The poor – गरीब लोग

Correct – The poor are honest.

Incorrect – The poors are honest.

Correct – The sick are weak.

Incorrect – The sick is weak.

Note –

ध्यान रहे ऐसे Adjective जो the लगाकर Plural Noun बनाए गए हो, न ही Singular verb का प्रयोग किया जाना चाहिए और न ही Adjective को Plural बना होना चाहिए |

• Rule – 3

कुछ noun हमेशा Plural ही होते है, इसका Singular form नहीं होता है |

जैसे – tongs, troops, tidings, binoculars, billiards, wages, works, annals, athlatics, bellows, pliers, scissors, gallows, archieves etc

Correct – my father gave me a pair of binoculars on my birthday.

Incorrect – my father gave me a pair of binocular on my birthday.

• Rule – 4

वैसे सभी वस्तु या शरीर के अंग जिसका निर्माण (रचना) दो एकसमान हिस्सों के मिलने से हुआ है, एक भाग को अलग कर देने पर वस्तु या शरीर के अंग बेकार हो जाते है Plural समझे जाते है और Plural verb लेते है |

जैसे – Socks, Shoes, Scissors, Lungs, Kidney etc.

Incorrect – Where is my shoes  ?

Correct -Where are my shoes ?

Correct -Where are my Socks ?

Note –

इन सभी शब्दों के लिए कभी भी Singular verb नही आएगा |

• Rule – 5

विषय के नाम एवं कुछ बीमारी के नाम ऐसे है, जो देखने में Plural की तरह होते है, परन्तु होते है Singular और अपने साथ Singular verb ही लेता है |

जैसे – Rickets, Measles, Mumps, Physics, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Ethics, Linguistics etc.

Correct – Rickets is caused due to the deficiency of Vit-D.

InCorrect – Rickets are caused due to the deficiency of Vit-D.

Note –

इन विषय एवं बीमारी के पहले Article नहीं होना चाहिए एवं इसके बाद आने वाला  verb Singular हो, परन्तु इसके पहले यदि possessive adjective का प्रयोग किया गया हो, तो Verb Plural हो सकता है |

• Rule – 6

Noun+Preposition+Noun+Preposition+Noun(Repeated) इस प्रकार के Structure में सबसे पहले Preposition के पहले जैसा Subject (Singular/Plural) होगा, वैसा ही Verb (Singular/Plural) आगे आएगा |

A strong bond of friendship among school (A) / administrative staff and teacher is responsible (B) / for the negligence of many aspects of eduction (C) / No Error (D)

Explanation –

इस वाक्य में सबसे पहला Preposition भाग (A) में of है, के पहले आया हुआ ‘A strong bond’ वाक्य का Subject है और इसी Subject के अनुसार आगे वाक्य में पहला Verb ‘is’ आया है अत: वाक्य सही है |

• Rule – 7

कुछ Noun ऐसे है, जिसका Singular Meaning जो होता है, इन्हें Plural बनाने के बाद Plural तो हो जाता है, परन्तु meaning भी बदल जाता है |

जैसे –

Singular                      Plural

Abuse (दुरुपयोग)        –              Abuses (कुरीतियाँ)

Advice  (सलाह)      –              Advices(सूचनाएँ)

Air  (हवा)            –              Airs (दिखावटी आचरण)

Iron (लोहा)        –               Irons (बेडी)

Number (संख्या)    –              Numbers (कविताएँ)

Pain (दर्द)          –             Pains (प्रयास)

Time (समय)         –             Times (काल)

Fruit (फल)         –              Fruits (परिणाम)

Way (रास्ता)         –              Ways (व्यवहार)

Water (पानी)       –               Waters (समुद्र)

Force (शक्ति)      –                Forces (सेना)

Wood (लकड़ी)     –                 Woods (जंगल)

• Rule – 8

यदि दो Noun एक साथ रखा गया हो और दोनों Noun’s (apostrophy s) से जुड़े हो, तो आने वाला Verb, ‘s’के बाद वाले Noun के अनुसार Singular या Plural होगा और यदि दो Noun of से जुड़े हो, तो of के पहले Noun के अनुसार Verb Singular या Plural होगा ‘s’ का प्रयोग सिर्फ सजीव के लिए करते है |

Correct – The table’s lega are broken.

Incorrect – The table’s lega is broken.

Correct -Ram’s book is big and thick.

Incorrect – The book of Ram is big and thick.

अपवाद – मूल्य (Worth), वजन (weight), दूरी (Distance), समय (Time), के साथ ‘s का प्रयोग होता है |

Some Rules

1. गवाह / सबूत

Witness (मानव) : Suman is a Witness of the case.

Evidence (वस्तु): The sim of mobile is an evidence of the case.

2. Work –

कार्य : कार्य के अर्थ में हमेशा Singular Verb लेता है |

रचना : जब work का अर्थ रचना हो, तो work के साथ आने वाला verb Singular / Plural दोनों हो सकता है |

3. Word –

वचन : वचन के अर्थ में verb हमेशा Singular होगा |

शब्द : इस अर्थ में आगे आने वाला Verb Singular / Plural दोनों हो सकता है |

4. Brothers : Brothers (रक्त से संबंधित भाई / सगा भाई) दोनों Plural है

Brotheren : आपसी समझौते का भाई / राह का भाई

5. Genious : एक से अधिक कुशाग्र बुध्दि वाले लोगों के लिए

Geniouses : भूत प्रेत आदि के Plural Form है

6. Wages –

मजदूरी : हमेशा Plural Verb आएगा |

दंड : हमेशा Singular Verb आएगा |

7. Issue –

शिशु /बच्चा : इस्सके साथ Singular Verb आएगा |

मुद्दा : इसके साथ Singular /Plural Verb कोई भी verb अपने Subject के अनुसार हो सकता है |

8. Force –

शक्ति : इसके साथ Singular Verb आएगा |

सेना : इसके साथ Plural Verb आएगा |

9. अविवाहित –

Bachelor : कुँवारे लड़कों के लिए |

Maid : कुँवारी लड़कियों के लिए |

10. घर –

House : इसका प्रयोग किसी भी व्यक्ति के घर के लिए होता है |

Home : इसका प्रयोग सिर्फ अपने घर के लिए होता है
