परिचय :
प्रदेश के 21वें जिले के रूप में विकसित पलवल जिले की स्थापना 15 अगस्त, 2008 को हुई। यह देश की राजधानी दिल्ली से लगभग 50 किमी दूर दिल्ली-मथुरा राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर स्थित है। पलवल नगर शक्कर एवं साइकिल उद्योग क लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
- जब महात्मा गाँधी रोलट एक्ट के बिरुद्ध होन वाले सम्मेलन में भाग लेने के लिए जलियाँवाला बाग (अमृतसर) जा रहे थे तो अंग्रेज सरकार द्वारा 10 अप्रैल, 1919 को पहली बार पलवल रेलवे स्टेशन से ही गिरफ्तार हुए थे। जिसकी स्मृति में नेताजी सुभाषचन्द्र बोस द्वारा सन् 1938 में महात्मा गांधी आश्रम की नींव रखी गयी थी।
- ‘आईन-ए-अकबरी के अनुसार प्रारम्भिक आर्य परम्पराओं के वर्णन में पलवल का नाम अपलव पाया जाता है।
- एक जनश्रुति के अनुसार पाण्डव अज्ञातवास के दौरान पलवल में रहते थे। उस समय यहाँ पर घने वन थे। इस क्षेत्र के गाँव आहारवन (अहरवा) का वर्णन श्रीमद्भगवत की कथाओं में मिलता है।
दर्शनीय स्थल
पाण्डव वन : पलवल जिले के होडल नामक कस्बे में पाण्डव वन तथा मन्दिर व गुफा स्थित है। मान्यता है कि पाण्डवों ने अज्ञातवास का समय इस स्थान पर बिताया था। महाभारत काल के बाद ओढ़ जाति आकर यहाँ पर बस गयी थी।
सती का स्थान :होडल क्षेत्र में सती के नाम पर एक भव्य मन्दिर तथा तालाब हैं जहाँ जनवरी मास में मेला लगता है। भरतपुर के राजा सूरजमल ने एक सराय.. तालाब तथा बावड़ी का निर्माण करवाया था।
राधाकृष्ण मन्दिर : होडल नगर से मात्र एक किमी की दूरी पर • राधाकृष्ण का मन्दिर स्थित है। यहाँ पर एक तालाब भी है जिसकी क्षेत्र में बहुत मान्यता है।
बाबा जी का स्थान : पलवल जिले के गाँव अलावलपुर में बाबा जी का स्थान है। इस स्थान पर आसोज सुधी की दसवीं को एक मेले का आयोजन होता है।
शहाबुद्दीन की ईदगाह : पलवल में एक प्राचीन ईदगाह है जिसे शहाबुद्दीन की ईदगाह कहा जाता है। इसका निर्माण सन् 1211 ई० में हुआ था।
पंचवटी : पलवल में स्थित पंचवटी मन्दिर पाण्डयों के समय का माना जाता है। अज्ञातवास के समय पाण्डवों ने इस स्थान पर विश्राम किया था। इनकी याद में इस स्थान का निर्माण किया गया।
दाऊजी का मन्दिर : पलवल से लगभग 25 किमी दूर जीटी रोड पर स्थित बनचारी गाँव में दाऊजी का मन्दिर है। यह मन्दिर श्रीकृष्ण के भाई बलराम की स्मृति में बनाया गया एक प्राचीन मन्दिर है।
शहीद मीनार : यह मीनार खण्ड हथीन के गाँव रूपड़ाका में स्थित है, जो आजादी की लड़ाई में हुए शहीदों की स्मृति में बनाई गई है।
पलवल का किला : यह किला मुगलकाल में पलवल में बनवाया गया या यह किला अब खण्डहर में परिवर्तित हो है। पलवल तहसील के गांव जैनपुर में पक्की ईंटो से बना एक तालाब भी है। चुका
किशोरी महल : यह महल पलवल जिले के होडल नगर में स्थित है। इसका निर्माण सन् 1754 से 1764 में हुआ। किशोरी राजा सूरजमल की धर्मपत्नी थी।
डबचिक : जिला पलवल के होडल शहर में दिल्ली-आगरा मार्ग पर डबचिक पर्यटन कॉम्पलैक्स स्थित है।
महल एवं बाराखम्बा छतरी, होडल : होडल में स्थित महलनुमा हवेली का निर्माण 1754-1764 ईस्वी के बीच भरतपुर के राजा सूरजमल के श्वसुर चौधरी कांशीराम सोरोत ने करवाया था। महारानी किशोरी राजा सूरजमल की धर्मपत्नी और चौधरी कांशीराम की पुत्री थी।
होडल की सराय, तालाब और बावड़ी : होडल में भरतपुर के राजा सूरजमल ने एक सुन्दर सराय तालाब और एक बावड़ी बनावाई थी। आज भी इनके खण्डहर यहाँ देखने को मिलते हैं।
हथीन : माना जाता है कि प्राचीन समय में इस स्थान पर हाथियों के समूह विचरण किया करते थे। और संभवतः इसी कारण इस क्षेत्र का नाम हस्थीन जो कालान्तर में हथीन हो गया। इसके समीप औथा नामक स्थान पर खुदाइयों में एक हाथी के अस्थि पिंजर और कलात्मक वस्तुयें प्राप्त हुई हैं।
हथनीकुण्ड कॉम्पलैक्स : हथनीकुण्ड में हरियाणा पर्यटन निगम द्वारा ‘पिन-टेल रेस्टोरेन्ट’ स्थापित किया गया है। ऐसा माना जाता है पाण्डवों ने अपने वनवास का कुछ समय शिवालिक की इन पहाड़ियों में भी बिताया था। हथीन या कुण्ड के निकट दादूपुर स्थान है, जहाँ 60 दरी । यमुना के जल को नियंत्रित करने के लिए बनी है।
हसनपुर : हसनपुर पलवल जिले की नगर परिषद है। फरीदाबाद से इसकी निकटता के कारण यहाँ की जमीनों का व्यावसायिक महत्त्व बढ़ा है। कृषि यन्त्र उत्पादन में यह कस्बा अपनी साख रखता है। यहाँ के लोग पशुपालन को अपनी आर्थिक रीढ़ समझते हैं यहीं कारण है कि इस इलाके से बहुत मात्रा में दूध का नियमित निर्यात किया जाता है।
होडल: होडल एक प्राचनी नगर है जिसका सम्बन्ध महाभारत काल से माना जाता है। ‘पाण्डव वन’ नामक स्थान के अवशेष अब भी यहाँ मौजूद हैं। ओड़ों के रहने से इस स्थान का नाम ‘ओडल’ पड़ गया जो कलान्तर में होडल हो गया।
