सिन्धु नदी

  • सिन्धु नदी एशिया की सबसे लंबी नदियों में से एक है।
  • यह पाकिस्तान, भारत (जम्मू और कश्मीर) और चीन (पश्चिमी तिब्बत) के माध्यम से बहती है
  • सिन्धु नदी का उद्गम स्थल तिब्बत के मानसरोवर के निकट सिन-का-बाब नामक जलधारा माना जाता है।
  • इस नदी की लंबाई प्रायः 2880 किलोमीटर है।

गंगा नदी

  • गंगोत्री हिमनद उत्तराखंड के उत्तरकाशी जिले में स्थित है, जहां से भागीरथी नदी निकलती है और देवप्रयाग में अलकनंदा से मिल जाती है।
  • इस संगम के बाद गंगा का निर्माण होता है. यहां से गंगा नदी बहती है और बंगाल की खाड़ी में शामिल हो जाती है।
  • गंगोत्री हिन्दुओं का एक तीर्थ स्थान है।

ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी

  • ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी एक बहुत लम्बी (2900 किलोमीटर) नदी है।
  • ब्रह्मपुत्र का नाम तिब्बत में सांपो, अरुणाचल में डिहं तथा असम में ब्रह्मपुत्र है।
  • ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी बांग्लादेश की सीमा में जमुना के नाम से दक्षिण में बहती हुई गंगा की मूल शाखा पद्मा के साथ मिलकर बंगाल की खाड़ी में जाकर मिलती है।

सतलुज नदी

  • सतलुज उत्तरी भारत में बहनेवाली एक सदानीरा नदी है।
  • इसका पौराणिक नाम शतुर्दि है।
  • जिसकी लम्बाई पंजाब में बहने वाली पाँचों नदियों में सबसे अधिक है।
  • यह पाकिस्तान में होकर बहती है।

रावी नदी

  • रावी नदी, पश्चिमोत्तर भारत और पूर्वोत्तर पाकिस्तान में बहने वाली एक नदी है।
  • यह लाहौर से होकर बहती हुई कमलिया के निकट पश्चिम की ओर मुड़ जाती है और लगभग 725 किमी के बाद अहमदपुर सियाल के दक्षिण में चिनाब नदी में मिल जाती है।
  • रावी नदी के जल का सिचाई के लिए उपयोग सम्पूर्ण प्रवाह क्षेत्र में किया जाता है।

ब्यास नदी

  • ब्यास पंजाब (भारत) हिमाचल में बहने वाली एक प्रमुख नदी है।
  • नदी की लम्बाई 470 किलोमीटर है।
  • पंजाब (भारत) की पांच प्रमुख नदियों में से एक है। इसका उल्लेख ऋग्वेद में केवल एक बार है।

झेलम नदी

  • झेलम नदी उत्तरी भारत में बहने वाली एक नदी है।
  • इस नदी का वैदिक कालीन नाम ‘वितस्ता’ था।
  • यह नदी हिमालय के शेषनाग झरने से प्रस्फुटित होकर कश्मीर में बहती हुई पाकिस्तान में पहुंचती है और झांग मघियाना नगर के पास चिनाब में समाहित हो जाती है।
  • झेलम 2,130 किलोमीटर तक प्रवाहित होती है।

चिनाब नदी

  • चिनाब नदी भारत के हिमाचल प्रदेश के लाहौल और स्पीति जिले के ऊपरी हिमालय में टांडी में चंद्रा और भागा नदियों के संगम से बनती है।
  • इसकी ऊपरी पहुंच में इसे चंद्रभागा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
  • यह सिंधु नदी की एक सहायक नदी है।
  • चिनाब का पानी भारत और पाकिस्तान द्वारा सिंधु जल समझौते की शर्तों के अनुसार साझा किया जाता है।

यमुना नदी

  • यमुना भारत की एक नदी है।
  • यह गंगा नदी की सबसे बड़ी सहायक नदी है जो यमुनोत्री (उत्तरकाशी से 30 किमी उत्तर, गढ़वाल में) नामक जगह से निकलती है और प्रयाग (प्रयागराज) में गंगा से मिल जाती है।
  • इसकी प्रमुख सहायक नदियों में चम्बल, सेंगर, छोटी सिन्धु, बेतवा और केन उल्लेखनीय हैं।
  • ब्रज की संस्कृति में यमुना का महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है।

चम्बल (चंबल) नदी

  • चम्बल (चंबल) नदी मध्य भारत में यमुना नदी की सहायक नदी है।
  • यह नदी भारत में उत्तर तथा उत्तर-मध्य भाग में राजस्थान के कोटा तथा धौलपुर, मध्य प्रदेश के धार, उज्जैन, रतलाम, मन्दसौर, भिंड, मुरैना आदि जिलों से होकर बहती है।

घाघरा नदी

  • घाघरा नदी या करनाली नदी गंगा नदी की मुख्य सहायक नदी है।
  • यह दक्षिणी तिब्बत के ऊँचे पर्वत शिखर हिमालय से निकलती है।
  • इसके बाद यह नेपाल से होकर बहती हुई भारत के उत्तर प्रदेश एवं बिहार में प्रवाहित होती है।

गण्डकी नदी

  • गण्डकी नदी, नेपाल और बिहार में बहने वाली एक नदी है जिसे बड़ी गंडक या केवल गंडक भी कहा जाता है।
  • गण्डकी हिमालय से निकलकर दक्षिण-पश्चिम बहती हुई भारत में प्रवेश करती है।
  • त्रिवेणी पर्वत के पहले इसमें एक सहायक नदी त्रिशूलगंगा मिलती है।
  • यह नदी काफी दूर तक उत्तर प्रदेश तथा बिहार राज्यों के बीच सीमा निर्धारित करती है।

कोसी नदी

  • कोसी नदी गंगा की सहायक नदी है, जो नेपाल के पहाड़ों से निकल कर नेपाल और बिहार में बहती हुई राजमहल (बिहार) के निकट गंगा में मिल जाती है।
  • इसे बिहार का शोक भी कहा जाता है।
  • यह नदी नेपाल और उत्तरी भारत में बहती है।

बेतवा नदी

  • बेतवा नदी जिसका प्राचीन नाम वेत्रवती था।
  • भारत के मध्य प्रदेश और उत्तर प्रदेश राज्यों में बहने वाली एक नदी है।
  • यह यमुना नदी की उपनदी है।
  • यह मध्य प्रदेश में रायसेन ज़िले के कुम्हारागाँव से निकलकर उत्तर-पूर्वी दिशा में बहती हुई भोपाल, विदिशा, झाँसी, ललितपुर आदि ज़िलों से होकर बहती है।

सोन नदी

  • सोन नदी भारत के मध्य भाग में बहने वाली एक नदी है।
  • इसे सोनभद्र शिला के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
  • यमुना के बाद यह गंगा नदी की दक्षिणी उपनदियों में सबसे बड़ी है।
  • यह मध्य प्रदेश के अनूपपुर ज़िले में अमरकंटक के पास उत्पन्न होती है, जो विंध्याचल पहाड़ियों में नर्मदा नदी के स्रोतस्थल से पूर्व में स्थित है।

कृष्णा नदी

  • कृष्णा भारत में बहनेवाली एक नदी है।
  • यह पश्चिमी घाट के पर्वत महाबलेश्वर से निकलती है।
  • इसकी लम्बाई प्रायः 1400 किलोमीटर है।
  • यह दक्षिण-पुर्व राज्य महाराष्ट्र, कर्नाटक, तेलंगाना, आंध्र प्रदेश में बहती हुई बंगाल की खाड़ी में जाकर गिरती है।

गोदावरी नदी

  • गोदावरी नदी तंत्र प्रायद्वीपीय भारत का सबसे बड़ा नदी तंत्र है।
  • इसे दक्षिण की गंगा भी कहा जाता है।
  • गोदावरी नदी महाराष्ट्र में नासिक के पास त्र्यंबकेश्वर से निकलती है और बंगाल की खाड़ी में गिरने से पहले लगभग 1465 किलोमीटर की दूरी तय करती है।

कावेरी  नदी

  • कावेरी कर्नाटक तथा उत्तरी तमिलनाडु में बहनेवाली एक सदानीरा नदी है।
  • यह पश्चिमी घाट के पर्वत ब्रह्मगिरीसे निकली है।
  • इसकी लम्बाई प्रायः 800 किलोमीटर है।
  • दक्षिण पूर्व में प्रवाहित होकर कावेरी नदी बंगाल की खाड़ी में मिली है।

तुंगभद्रा नदी

  • तुंगभद्रा नदी दक्षिण भारतीय प्रायद्वीप की एक पवित्र नदी है जो कर्नाटक तथा आंध्र प्रदेश में बहती है।
  • हम्पी तुंगभद्रा नदी के दक्षिणी किनारे पर स्थित है।
  • इस नदी का जन्म तुंगा और भद्रा नदियों के मिलन से होता है, जो इसे तुंगभद्रा नदी का नाम देती हैं।
  • हम्पी का नाम पंपा की कहानियों में भी उत्पन्न होता है।

पेन्ना नदी

  • पेन्ना नदी , जिसे पेन्नार और उत्तर पिनाकिनी भी कहते हैं, भारत के कर्नाटक और आन्ध्र प्रदेश राज्यों में बहने वाली एक नदी है।
  • नदी की कुल लम्बाई 597 किमी है और इसका जलसम्भर क्षेत्र 55,213 वर्ग किमी है, जिसमें से 6,937 वर्ग किमी कर्नाटक में और 48,276 वर्ग किमी आन्ध्र प्रदेश में है।

महानदी

  • छत्तीसगढ़ तथा उड़ीसा अंचल की सबसे बड़ी नदी है।
  • प्राचीनकाल में महानदी का नाम चित्रोत्पला था।
  • महानन्दा एवं नीलोत्पला भी महानदी के ही नाम हैं।
  • महानदी का उद्गम रायपुर के समीप धमतरी जिले में स्थित सिहावा नामक पर्वत श्रेणी से हुआ है।

नर्मदा नदी

  • नर्मदा, जिसे रेवा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
  • मध्य भारत की एक नदी और भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप की पांचवीं सबसे लंबी नदी है।
  • यह गोदावरी नदी और कृष्णा नदी के बाद भारत के अंदर बहने वाली तीसरी सबसे लंबी नदी है।
  • मध्य प्रदेश राज्य में इसके विशाल योगदान के कारण इसे “मध्य प्रदेश की जीवन रेखा” भी कहा जाता है।

ताप्ती नदी

  • ताप्ती नदी पश्चिमी भारत की प्रसिद्ध नदी है।
  • यह मध्य प्रदेश राज्य के बैतूल जिले के मुलताई से निकलकर सतपुड़ा पर्वतप्रक्षेपों के मध्य से पश्चिम की ओर बहती हुई महाराष्ट्र के खानदेश के पठार एवं सूरत के मैदान को पार करती है और गुजरात स्थित खम्भात की खाड़ी, अरब सागर में गिरती है।

माही नदी

  • माही नदी पश्चिमी भारत की एक प्रमुख नदी हैं।
  • माही का उद्गम मध्यप्रदेश के धार जिला के समीप मिन्डा ग्राम की विंध्याचल पर्वत श्रेणी से हुआ है।
  • यह दक्षिणी अरावली में जयसमन्द झील से प्रारम्भ होती है।
  • यह मध्य प्रदेश के धार, झाबुआ और रतलाम जिलों तथा गुजरात राजस्थान राज्य से होती हुई खंभात की खाड़ी द्वारा अरब सागर में गिरती है।

लूनी नदी

  • लूनी नदी का उद्गम राजस्थान के अजमेर ज़िले में 772 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित नाग की पहाड़ियों से होता है।
  • ये नदी अजमेर से निकल कर दक्षिण-पश्चिम राजस्थान नागौर, जोधपुर, पाली, बाड़मेर, जालौर ज़िलों से होकर बहती हुई गुजरात के कच्छ ज़िले में प्रवेश करती है और कच्छ के रण में विलुप्त हो जाती है।
  • इस नदी की कुल लम्बाई 495 किमी है।

घग्गर नदी

  • घग्गर नदी का उद्गम स्थल हिमाचल प्रदेश की शिवालिक पहाड़ी (कालका माता के मंदिर के पास) से होता है ।
  • घग्गर नदी को नट नदी/मृत नदी/सोतर नदी/सरस्वती नदी/द्वेषवती नदी/राजस्थान का शौक/लेटी हुई नदी आदि उपनाम से जाना जाता है
  • घग्गर नदी राजस्थान में हनुमानगढ़ के टीवी नामक स्थान से प्रवेश करती है ।

साबरमती नदी

  • साबरमती नदी भारत की एक प्रमुख नदी है।
  • इस नदी का उद्गम राजस्थान के उदयपुर जिले में (झाड़़ौल की पहाड़िया) अरावली पर्वतमालाओं से होता है, और फिर राजस्थान और गुजरात में दक्षिण-पश्चिम दिशा की ओर बहते हुए 371 किलोमीटर का सफर तय करने के बाद यह अरब सागर की खंभात की खाड़ी में गिर जाती है।
  • नदी की लम्बाई राजस्थान में 48 किलोमीटर और गुजरात में 323 किलोमीटर है।
  • साबरमती गुजरात की प्रमुख नदी है; इसके तट पर राज्य के अहमदाबाद और गांधीनगर जैसे प्रमुख नगर बसे हैं, और धरोई बाँध योजना द्वारा साबरमती नदी के जल का प्रयोग गुजरात में सिंचाई और विद्युत् उत्पादन के लिए होता है।
