साल के सितंबर महीने का यह 27वां दिन इतिहास में भारत माता के लाडले पुत्र और उसे अंग्रेजों की गुलामी से मुक्ति दिलाने के लिए 23 वर्ष की छोटी सी उम्र में फांसी पर झूल गए भगत सिंह के जन्मदिन के तौर पर दर्ज है। अविभाजित पंजाब के लायलपुर (अब पाकिस्तान) में 27 सितंबर 1907 को जन्मे भगत सिंह बहुत छोटी उम्र से ही आजादी की लड़ाई में कूद गए और उनकी लोकप्रियता से भयभीत ब्रिटिश सरकार  ने 23 मार्च 1931 को 23 वर्ष  के भगत सिंह को फांसी पर लटका दिया|

इस दिन के नाम पर इतिहास में कुछ अन्य घटनाएं भी दर्ज हैं। पिछली सदी के आखरी वर्षों में इंटरनेट की दुनिया में एक बड़ी घटना हुई जो आज हम सबकी जिंदगी से जुड़ी है। 1998 में आज ही के दिन पीएचडी के दो छात्रों ने इंटरनेट सर्च इंजन गूगल की स्थापना की। आज यह दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा इंटरनेट प्लेटफार्म होने के साथ ही ‘गूगल बाबा’ के रूप में हर सवाल का जवाब देने को तैयार रहता है|

देश दुनिया के इतिहास में 27 सितंबर की तारीख पर दर्ज अन्य प्रमुख घटनाओं का सिलसिलेवार ब्यौरा इस प्रकार है:-

1066 को  नौरमैंडी के ड्यूक विलियम ने अपनी सेना को इंग्लैंड के दक्षिण पूर्वी तट की ओर उस अभियान के लिए रवाना किया, जिसे बाद में नोरमन फतह के तौर पर जाना गया।

1781 कोहैदर अली और ब्रिटिश सेना के बीच सालनगढ़ की मशहूर लड़ाई लड़ी गई।

1833 को राम मोहन राय का इंग्लैंड के ब्रिस्टल में निधन।

1907 को भारत के महान क्रांतिकारी और देश की आजादी के लिए अपने प्राण न्योछावर करने वाले भगत सिंह का जन्म।

1918 को ब्रिटिश सेना ने पहले विश्व युद्ध के दौरान वेस्टर्न फ्रंट पर अंतिम आक्रमण के तहत हिंडनबर्ग लाइन पर हमला किया।

1964 को अमेरिका के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति जॉन एफ कैनेडी की हत्या की जांच करने वाले वारेन आयोग ने अपने निष्कर्ष सार्वजनिक किए।

1970 को जॉर्डन के शाह और फलस्तीन मुक्ति संगठन के नेता के बीच काहिरा में एक सम्मेलन के दौरान संघर्षविराम पर सहमति।

1977 को प्रसिद्ध नर्तक उदय शंकर का निधन।

1988 को फर्राटा धावक बेन जानसन को प्रतिबंधित पदार्थ के सेवन के कारण सोल ओलंपिक खेलों से निकाला गया। उनका 100 मीटर दौड़ में जीता गया स्वर्ण पदक वापस ले लिया गया।

1995 को  कलकत्ता मेट्रो का टॉलीगंज और दमदम के बीच पूर्ण क्षमता से परिचालन शुरू।

1996 को मोहम्मद उमर के नेतृत्व में तालिबान ने काबुल पर कब्जा किया और अफगानिस्तान को इस्लामी राष्ट्र घोषित किया।

1998 को पीएचडी कर रहे दो छात्रों लैरी पेज और सर्जी बेन ने सर्च इंजन गूगल की स्थापना की। दुनिया का यह सबसे बड़ा इंटरनेट सर्च इंजन आज हर शंका का समाधान करता है।

2008 को चीन के अंतरिक्ष यात्री झाई झीगांग ने पहली बार अंतरिक्ष में चहलकदमी की।

2020 को राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद ने तीन कृषि विधेयकों को मंजूरी दे दी
