परिचय :

पानीपत को बुनकर नगरी कहा जाता है। क्योंकि यहाँ का हैंडलूम उद्योग विश्व प्रसिद्ध है। महाभारत युद्ध के समय जिन गांवों को पाण्डवों ने दुर्योधन से मांगा था, उन में पनप्रस्थ भी शामिल था। बाद में इसको पानीपत के नाम से जाना जाने लगा।

पानीपत की प्रथम लड़ाई :  यह लड़ाई सन् 1526 में इब्राहिम लोधी और बाबर के बीच लड़ी गयी। इस लड़ाई से भारत में मुगल साम्राज्य की नीवं पड़ी।

पानीपत की दूसरी लड़ाई :  यह लड़ाई सन् 1556 ई० में अकबर और रेवाड़ी के शासक हेमचंद्र (हेमू) के बीच लड़ी गई। इस युद्ध में अकबर की जीत हुई और भारत में मुगल साम्राज्य की नींव में दृढता आई।

पानीपत की तीसरी लड़ाई :  यह लड़ाई सन् 1761 में अहमद शाह अब्दाली और मराठा सरदार सदाशिव राव भाऊ के बीच हुई जिसमें मराठों की करारी हार हुई।

  • सूफी कवि मोहम्मद अफजल और उर्दू के प्रसिद्ध शायर अल्ताफ हुसैन हाली पानीपत में ही जन्मे थे। पानीपत के क्रांतिकारी मौलवी कलन्दर ने 1857 में अंग्रेजों के विरुद्ध विद्रोह का झण्डा बुलंद किया और फाँसी पर चढ़े थे।
  • पृथक जिला बनने से पहले पानीपत करनाल जिले का एक भाग था। स्वतंत्र जिले के रूप में पानीपत का गठन 1 नवम्बर, 1989 को हुआ।
  • पानीपत की सीमा तीन ओर से हरियाणा के अन्य जिलों से घिरी है तो पूर्व दिशा में यमुना पार उत्तरप्रदेश के साथ सटी हुई है।

 

  • पानीपत की बनी दरी- खेस, चादरें, परदे आदि देश-विदेश में प्रसिद्ध हैं। फौज के लिए बनाए जाने वाले कंबल भी पानीपत में बनते हैं।
  • जवाहर नवोदय विद्यालय, नौल्था पानीपत में हैं।

पानीपत के महत्वूपर्ण स्थल :

काबुली बाग :  काबुली बाग जो पानीपत के प्रथम युद्ध बाद बाबर ने लगाया था देखने योग्य है। पानीपत के निकट काबुली बाग में एक मकबरा तथा तालाब बना के हुआ है। यह बाग बाबर ने पानीपत की प्रथम लड़ाई में इब्राहिम लोधी पर विजय की यादगार में तथा सबसे प्रिय रानी मुसम्मत काबुली की याद में बनवाया था।

काला अम्ब:  पानीपत से आठ किमी दूर पूर्व दिशा में काला अम्ब में सन् 1761 में पानीपत का तीसरा युद्ध अफगान सरदार अहमदशाह अब्दाली और मराठा सरदार सदाशिवराव भाऊ के मध्य हुआ था। युद्ध में मराठों की पराजय हुई। कहा जाता है कि इस स्थान पर आम का एक वृक्ष था पानीपत के तीसरे युद्ध में मराठों का इतना खून बहा कि धरती लाल हो गई। आम का वृक्ष भी वृद्ध हाने से काला पड़ गया था। तभी से इस स्थान को ‘काला अम्ब नाम से जाना जाता है।

आध्यात्मिक संग्रहालय :  यह पानीपत में हैं। यहाँ पर सभी धर्मों की आध्यात्मिक वस्तुओं का संग्रह किया गया है।

सलारजंग गेट : पानीतप नगर के मध्य स्थित यह त्रिपोलिया दरवाजा प्राचीन आबादी का प्रवेश द्वार है। प्राचीन वास्तुकला का उत्कृष्ट नमूना कहलाने वाला यह दरवाजा नवाब सलारजंग के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है।

सिद्ध शिव शनिधाम : पानीपत के मुख्य बाजार में स्थित सिद्ध शिव शनिधाम श्रद्धालुओं को धार्मिक एकता से सरोकार करता है। इस शनि नाम में जहाँ एक ओर आरतियों होती हैं, वहीं दूसरी ओर मुस्लिम श्रद्धालु नमाज अदा कर रहे होते हैं। आस-पास के क्षेत्रों में इस शनिधाम को दादा-पोता मन्दिर के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।

दिगम्बर जैन मन्दिर :  यह मन्दिर पुराने पानीपत नगर के पश्चिम में जैन मोहल्ले में स्थित है।

शेख अनामउल्ला दरगाह  :  हरियाणा के प्रमुख सूफी सन्तों में शेख अनामउल्ला पानीपती का नाम भी उल्लेखनीय है, इनकी मजार भी पानीपत में है।

कबीर-उल-औलिया हजरत शेख जलालुद्दीन की दरगाह :  शेख जलालुद्दीन पानीपत के प्रमुख सूफी संत हुए है। ये बू अली कलंदर के समकालीन थे।

सैयद रोशन अली शाह दरगाह : पानीपत के सामान्य अस्पताल परिसर में स्थित सैयद रोशन अली शाह साहेब की दरगाह भाईचारे की मिसाल है। यहाँ हर धर्म के लोग भाईचारे के लिए दुआ करने के लिए पहुँचते हैं।

इब्राहिम लोदी की कब्र :  यह ऐतिहासिक मकबरा पानीपत के तहसील कार्यालय के निकट स्थित है। सन् 1526 में इब्राहिम ने बाबर के साथ युद्ध किया था जिसमें उसकी पराजय हुई और वह मारा गया। युद्ध स्थल पर ही इब्राहिम लोदी को दफनाया गया था।

अल्ताफ हुसैन हाली की कब्र :  इनकी कब्र बू अली कलंदर की दरगाह के प्रांगण में स्थित है। अल्ताफ हुसैन हाली उर्दू, फारसी, अरबी व अंग्रेजी के अच्छे ज्ञाता थे।

काबुली बाग मस्जिद :  पानीपत के निकट काबुली बाग में एक मस्जिद तथा तालाब बना हुआ है। यह बाग बाबर है ने पानीतप की प्रथम लड़ाई में विजय की खुशी तथा सबसे प्रिय रानी मुसम्मत काबुली बेगम की याद में बनवाया था।

जामा मस्जिद :  नगर की मुख्य मस्जिद को जामा मस्जिद कहते हैं। ये नगर के मध्य में और नगर की सबसे बड़ी मस्जिद है।

हजरत ख्वाजा शमसहीन का मकबरा :  ये पानीपत के प्रमुख संत हुए हैं जो बू अली कलंदर के समकालीन थे और शेख अलीऊद्दीन शाबरी के अनुयायी थे।

सलार फखरुद्दीन व हाफिज जमाला का मकबरा : यह मकबरा बू अली कलंदर के मामा-पिता का है।

मुकर्रब खान का मकबरा :  मुकर्रब खान का वास्तविक नाम शेख हसन था। मुकर्रब खान जहाँगीर के समय के प्रसिद्ध हकीम थे।

बू अलीशाह कलन्दर दरगाह :  हरियाणा में चिश्ती सम्प्रदाय की स्थापना शेख फरीद ने की थी। बू अलीशाह कलन्दर भी चिश्ती सम्प्रदाय के प्रमुख सूफी सन्त थे। पानीपत में स्थित बू अली शाह कलन्दर की दरगाह शिल्प कला का उत्कृष्ट नमूना है।

कोस मीनार, कोहंड :  शेरशाह सूरी ने जी. टी. रोड का निर्माण करवाया था। उसने जनता की सुविधा के लिए मार्ग के प्रत्येक कोस पर एक-एक मीनार खड़ी करवाई थी। इस समय हरियाणा में पड़ने वाले जी.टी. रोड़ के अंश पर कुल 88 कोस मीनार हैं।

स्काई लार्क :  हरियाणा टॅरिज्म विभाग द्वारा संचालित इस रेस्टोरेंट में सभी पर्यटन सुविधाएँ उपलब्ध हैं।

ब्लू जे : पानीपत से 18 किमी दूर समालखा नगर में ब्लू-जे नामक पर्यटन स्थल है।

  • पानीपत के आसन खुर्द गांव में थर्मल पावर प्लांट है। जिसने इस गांव की तस्वीर बदल दी है।
  • समालखा हरियाणा के नक्शे पर मिनी औद्योगिक क्षेत्र के रूप में विकसित राष्ट्र के मानचित्र पर अपनी अमिट छाप छोड़ता जा रहा है। मुगलों के सिपहसालार इस्माइल खाँ के नाम पर बसा समालखा दिन-दुगनी रात चौगुनी उन्नति कर रहा है। यहाँ की लकड़ी की कारीगरी ने विदेशों में भी पहचान बनाई हुई है।
