- शैलों से हमें भवन निर्माण सामग्री प्राप्त होती है |

पृथ्वी के केंद्र तक जाने के लिए 6000 किलोमीटर की गहराई तक खोदना होगा जो कि बिल्कुल असंभव है| ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि पृथ्वी में नीचे की ओर जाते समय 32 मीटर पर 1 डिग्री सेल्सियस तापमान बढ़ जाता है| अभी तक हमारे इंजीनियर केवल 6 किलोमीटर की गहराई तक ही खुदाई कर सके हैं| अतः पृथ्वी के केंद्र तक जाना असंभव है |
- अवसादी शैल अवसाद से बनती है, कैसे?
उत्तर :
मिट्टी के अनेक छोटे-छोटे कण जिन्हें अवसाद कहते हैं हवा, जल इत्यादि के द्वारा एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान पर पहुंचा कर जमा दिए जाते हैं | यह अवसाद दबकर एवं कठोर होकर शैल की परत बनाते हैं| इस प्रकार की शैलों को अवसादी शैल कहते हैं |
